Sanctions are applied in a manner that is proportionate, consistent, and aligned with the severity of the violation, with the primary aim of protecting the public, maintaining professional integrity, and upholding IMEXA standards.
All enforcement actions are determined following due process and in accordance with IMEXA’s governance framework.
Minor Violations
Minor violations refer to conduct that does not result in significant harm but reflects a deviation from expected professional standards.
Examples may include:
- Isolated instances of unprofessional conduct
- Administrative or procedural non-compliance
- Minor misrepresentation without intent to deceive
Possible sanctions:

Moderate Violations
Moderate violations involve more serious breaches of standards or repeated minor violations that indicate a pattern of concern.
Examples may include:
- Misrepresentation of certification or scope of practice

- Inappropriate application of techniques
Possible sanctions:
- Temporary suspension of certification or membership
- Probation with specific conditions
- Removal from the IMEXA Professional Directory for a defined period
- Mandatory retraining or reassessment
Serious Violations
Serious violations involve significant breaches of professional standards or ethical conduct and may pose risk to individuals, organisations, or the integrity of the profession.
Examples may include:
- Deliberate misrepresentation or fraud
- Harmful or unethical application of methods
- Breach of confidentiality with serious consequences
- Misuse of IMEXA affiliation or authority
Possible sanctions:
- Immediate suspension pending further action
- Revocation of certification
- Termination of membership
- Permanent expulsion from IMEXA
Where appropriate, IMEXA may also:
- Publicly reflect changes in certification status within its directory
