Global Ethical Framework for IMEXA Members
1. Purpose
The IMEXA Code of Ethics and Conduct establishes the ethical obligations and professional expectations applicable to all members, certificants, and accredited providers.
This Code is designed to protect the public, uphold professional integrity, and ensure responsible practice across all IMEXA disciplines.
2. Ethical Principles
2.1 Integrity
Members shall act with honesty, fairness, and transparency in all professional interactions.
2.2 Objectivity
Members shall:
- Avoid bias, prejudice, or personal influence
- Base conclusions on observable information and context
- Remain impartial in professional assessments
2.3 Confidentiality
Members shall:
- Respect the confidentiality of clients, subjects, and information
- Not disclose sensitive information without proper authority
- Handle all data in accordance with applicable data protection laws
2.4 Non-Maleficence (Do No Harm)
Members shall:
- Avoid actions that may cause harm, misinterpretation, or unjust consequences
- Use their skills responsibly and ethically
- Recognise the potential impact of their analysis on individuals and organisations
2.5 Informed Use of Practice
Members shall:
- Ensure that their work is used appropriately and responsibly
- Avoid misuse of behavioural analysis for manipulation, coercion, or harm
2.6 Professional Representation
Members shall:
- Accurately represent IMEXA certification and its scope
- Not imply guarantees, certainty, or infallibility
- Avoid misleading marketing or claims
2.7 Respect for Individuals
Members shall:
- Treat all individuals with dignity and respect
- Avoid discrimination based on culture, nationality, gender, or background
2.8 Legal and Regulatory Awareness
Members shall:
- Operate within applicable laws of their jurisdiction
- Not use IMEXA affiliation to bypass legal requirements
- Respect the independence of legal and regulatory systems
3. Ethical Violations
Examples of violations include:
- Misrepresentation of certification or expertise
- Unethical or harmful application of techniques
- Breach of confidentiality
- False or misleading claims
- Abuse of professional position
4. Reporting and Enforcement
All members are subject to IMEXA’s disciplinary framework.
- Complaints may be submitted by any party
- All cases are reviewed through a structured process
- Sanctions are applied proportionately
5. Mandatory Acceptance
All IMEXA members, certificants, and accredited providers must:
- Formally agree to this Code of Ethics and Conduct
- Acknowledge that non-compliance may result in disciplinary action
- Uphold these principles in all professional activities
