Global Standards Applicable to All IMEXA Members

1. Purpose

The IMEXA Professional Standards establish the minimum requirements for professional conduct, competence, and practice across all disciplines within behavioural and expression analysis.

These standards are binding on all IMEXA members, certificants, and accredited providers globally and are designed to ensure consistency, credibility, and accountability across all jurisdictions.

2. Scope of Application

These standards apply to:

  • All IMEXA-certified individuals
  • All IMEXA-accredited providers
  • All IMEXA members across all disciplines
  • All IMEXA chapters and regions

These standards apply regardless of geographic location and must be implemented without dilution or modification unless formally approved by IMEXA Global Governance.

3. Core Professional Principles

All IMEXA members must adhere to the following principles:

3.1 Competence

Members shall:

  • Practice only within the scope of their training and certification
  • Maintain and develop professional knowledge and skills
  • Engage in ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

3.2 Evidence-Informed Practice

Members shall:

  • Base their work on recognised methodologies and sound reasoning
  • Avoid unsupported claims or pseudoscientific assertions
  • Acknowledge the limitations of their discipline

3.3 Professional Integrity

Members shall:

  • Act honestly and transparently in all professional activities
  • Avoid misrepresentation of qualifications, experience, or certification
  • Refrain from exaggerated or misleading claims

3.4 Responsible Application

Members shall:

  • Apply techniques cautiously and contextually
  • Avoid definitive conclusions where not supported by evidence
  • Recognise that behavioural and expression analysis is interpretative, not absolute

3.5 Cultural and Contextual Awareness

Members shall:

  • Consider cultural, social, and situational context in all analysis
  • Avoid bias, stereotyping, or culturally inappropriate conclusions
  • Apply cross-cultural competence in international environments

3.6 Professional Boundaries

Members shall:

  • Operate within clearly defined professional limits
  • Not engage in clinical, medical, or psychological diagnosis unless appropriately qualified
  • Avoid misuse of techniques outside their intended scope

3.7 Accountability

Members shall:

  • Accept responsibility for their professional conduct
  • Cooperate with IMEXA investigations and disciplinary processes
  • Maintain accurate records where applicable 4. Discipline-Neutral Application

  • Deception Detection
  • Interview & Interrogation Analysis
  • Emotional Intelligence & Applied Behaviour
  • Cross-Cultural Etiquette & Behavioural Intelligence
  • Life Coaching & Applied Behavioural Development

5. Compliance and Enforcement

Failure to comply with these Professional Standards may result in:

  • Warnings or corrective measures
  • Suspension of certification or membership
  • Revocation of certification
  • Expulsion from IMEXA

6. Global Adoption Requirement

All IMEXA members and chapters are required to:

  • Formally adopt these standards
  • Confirm acceptance as part of membership, certification, or accreditation
  • Ensure implementation across all professional activities
